Revive Your Bike 2011, Our Bike Month Kick Off
Posted by I Bike Fresno Saturday, April 16, 2011
The time has finally come to take that lonely, neglected bike with the flat tires and the rusty chain that has been just sitting in your garage, and pull it out into the sunshine and get it fixed.
Bring your neglected bike to I Bike Fresno's FREE community event, "Revive Your Bike." The warm days are calling. The Million Mile Challenge is coming. And the gas prices are rising. The time to reconnect with your bike is NOW!
Bike shops and volunteers will be fixing flat tires, repairing brakes and lubing chains for free in an effort to motivate you to get out and ride that bike.
BE A BETTER BIKE RIDER:
After you get your bike fixed. Head over to the FCBC booth and learn how to get the most out of your bike.
- Helmet fittings
- Bike Fittings
- Hazard Avoidance Maneuvers
- ABC Quick Checks
- General Safety Tips
- Parking Lot Drills.
- And More
Plus, get the confidence to ride on the streets or on a trail. Join one of guided rides and have a League Bike Instructor show you how to get out and ride legally and safely.
- Ride One @ 11:00a
- Ride Two @ 1:00p
Sign up early and a League instructor will take a group out onto the trail and out on the streets in the bike lanes. If you have wanted to ride out on the road but have been unsure how to do it safely, this is a great opportunity to get some one-on-one tips.
Even if you don't have a "bike to revive," come out and learn how to use your bike to its fullest!
OTHER EXCITING THINGS:
- We are keeping it green! Instead of selling bottled water, we will have water stations where you can fill up your own bike bottle. OR you can purchase a super cool and trendy I BIKE FRESNO bike bottle to fill. No piles and piles of wasted plastic water bottles here!
- Dustly Buns Bistro will be there serving food! If you have never experienced the deliciousness of Fresno's own fully local gourmet food truck, then you've been missing out. www.dustybuns.com
- Learn to play bike polo! Have you seen or heard about this classic game that has seen a revival in the last few years? Bike Polo is a fun and exciting game where teams of players ride bicycles and use mallets to strike a small ball into a goal. Some local Bike Polo players will be out playing and teaching people who want to give it a swing.
- And finally join us @ 3pm for a fun ride along the Sugar Pine Trail. Meet at the Parking Lot and we'll leave as a group.
There is something for everyone at our kick off to Bike Month! Dont miss it!
