May is Bike Month Recap
Posted by I Bike Fresno Thursday, June 02, 2011
National Bike Month has come to a close. BUT that doesn’t mean you should stop riding OR stop coming to ibikefresno.org to log your miles. We’ll be leaving the dashboard active year round so you can still keep track of your miles.
It’s been a great May is Bike Month, don’t you think? We started with Revive Your Bike on May 1st where we fixed 147 bikes and got them on the road in time for the Mall-to-Mall Ride and the Kaiser Permanente Bike to Work Day Corporate Challenge. We rode more miles this year in the Million Mile Challenge than last year and the Eye Q California Classic shut down 180 to traffic as hundreds of riders took part in a number of rides, including the Fresno Classic Twilight Criterion. Fun times to be riding your bike in Fresno!
So don’t stop there. If you just started biking this month or you’ve been biking for years, keep riding and keep coming back to ibikefresno.org to see what new events will be sprouting up on our community calendar. Events that we are putting on AND events that you all are posting. Events like Valet Bike Parking at the Clovis Farmers Market all summer! Riding your bike in Fresno doesn’t just have to happen in May. You can ride year round. You may like it.
In fact, we want to hear from you about your May is Bike Month experience. Leave a comment on this blog and tell us your favorite parts of bike month. Tell us the story of how you went from driving your car everywhere to less than 4 trips a week. Tell us about the races you trained for. Tell us about how much fun you had in the Mall-to-Mall ride. Tell us about the friends you made out on the bike lanes. Tell us about your first bike commute. We want to hear it all!
Mostly, we want you to keep pedaling and remember...BIKING = JOY!
